Hiring: Director of Sustainability
Organization: XPV Water Partners
Location: Toronto ON / Hybrid. We are willing to consider candidates outside of Toronto.

We want to build upon XPV’s existing sustainability platform to create a best-in-class program for our firm and our portfolio companies. In leading this journey, the successful candidate will identify best practices, educate the XPV and portfolio company teams, collaborate to build tools to support sustainability, and report on progress and success. The Director, Sustainability will play the lead role in defining and implementing the next phase of this platform, and they will actively represent XPV in the critical conversation on water sustainability.

Specifically, they will have the opportunity to:

  • Equip XPV’s investment teams to execute effective sustainability-focused diligence on each potential investment through direct engagement and support, training, and the development of best-in-class tools and templates
  • In partnership with the XPV investment teams, develop and manage a customized sustainability plan for each new investment to align the company with best practices and XPV’s Responsible Investment Policies
  • Lead the development and integration of sustainability templates and activities into existing investment processes, portfolio company strategies and XPV reporting
  • Lead the selection and relationship management with sustainability vendors and third-party professionals
  • Work with the XPV team and portfolio company management teams to deliver consistent, repeatable sustainability outcomes and reporting
  • Advise XPV and portfolio companies on sustainability best practices, industry trends, and reporting standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience within the sustainability space
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Sustainability domain knowledge and expertise, including SFDR Articles 8 and 9; SASB; DEI; Employee Health and Safety
  • Water-related technical knowledge
  • Inquisitive, with a continuous learning and improvement mindset
  • Self-starter and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to build relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
