Position: Sustainability Coordinator
Term: 8-month contract, 30 hours/week, age 30 & under
Organization: Sustainable Enterprise Alliance

Sustainable Enterprise Alliance is looking to hire a full time (30 hours/week) green-business minded individual looking to make a difference in the national capital local business community.

Qualified interns are:

  • Post-secondary graduates

  • No more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship

  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada*

  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations

  • Not receiving employment insurance during their internship

  • Available to work for at least six months

What is SEA It is a local non-profit facilitating group that is run by volunteers to help local Proactive Business leaders to connect and collaborate to become sustainable and prosperous by creating suitable platforms for business owners to network.

We are applying the BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living Economies) principles in Ottawa. (BALLE is the fastest growing business alliance of values aligned entrepreneurs, business networks, and local economy funders in North America. Together we are building local economies, city by city, town by town, business by business.)

Our Mission: is to nurture local business to incorporate the triple bottom line(people, profit planet) strategy, and to lead by example of how business can be profitable while nourishing community and environment.

Working Conditions

  • Begins in May 2019
  • 30 hours/ week
  • 8 month contract
  • $18.50/ hour

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. With the help and direction of the board of directors, organize monthly networking events
  2. Raise funds from local businesses and through soliciting memberships
  3. Maintain clients’ databases and report their needs
  4. Organize 4 workshops per year on various sustainability and business topics
  5. Seek out additional sponsorship and support
  6. Report on a bi-weekly basis on progress and status of ongoing projects
  7. Promote local businesses to the Ottawa community and educate citizens on the benefits of buying and supporting local


  1. Entrepreneurial skills and passion
  2. Experience in social media
  3. Knowledge and passion for sustainability
  4. Experience in Marketing and Public Relations
  5. Strong communication skills
  6. Organizational skills
  7. Preferably Bilingual
