ENERGY MANAGER

Head Office (Victoria)

As a key member of the Safety, Health and Environment team and under the auspices of BC Hydro’s Strategic Energy Management Program, you are part of a team responsible for helping BC Ferries achieve its sustainability goals. By leading and coordinating efforts in planning, scoping, tracking and reporting energy efficiency opportunities associated with BCF’s building portfolio. You are responsible for BC Ferries’ Strategic Energy Management Plan (SEMP) which includes historical data consumption and patterns, determines where the organization is at in its current environment and shows what the organization is planning to do for the upcoming 2 – 3 years in terms of energy efficiency opportunities. Additionally as part of BC Ferries’ SEMP update, identify and manage low carbon electrification project opportunities to aid BC Ferries in achieving our emissions reduction targets.

In this position, you will provide energy management subject matter expertise to other BC Ferries departments; foster a strategic energy management culture and develop collaborative relations with key stakeholders and with external partners to identify and align energy management opportunities with other public and private sector initiatives, and to support strategic planning activities.

You are a Registered Professional Engineer, Registered Engineering Technologist or Certified Energy Manager. A master’s degree in business, planning, sustainability or similar relevant field is desirable. You have 5 years experience in capital project management, change management, coupled with hands on experience developing business cases, detailed report writing, financial analyses, budget preparation and management. You are a confident presenter with a demonstrated interest and enthusiasm related to energy efficiency and have knowledge of energy efficient technologies. Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
