Position: BEST/Parbus Marketing and Outreach Coordinator
Type: summer/seasonal, June 4 to July 30

Seasonal position; 35 hours/week at $16/hour, from June 4 to July 30, 2019

About us: Parkbus connects city dwellers with nature through accessible transportation options. Founded in 2010, we operate bus services to National and Provincial Parks from major cities across Canada. We also operate community nature and outdoor programs such as ActiveDays and NatureLink. In Vancouver, our programs are run by Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST), a BC-based charitable non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable tourism and transportation.

Job Description: BEST is hiring a Marketing and Outreach Coordinator to act as the primary lead on promoting and educating the general public about the offers of BEST, specifically highlighting its main projects - The Bicycle Valet, ParkPass and Parkbus. The Marketing and Outreach Coordinator will work closely with each project lead as well as the General Manager to develop and implement a seasonal marketing plan. The coordinator will be responsible for creating, posting and regularly updating content pertaining to the organization’s projects on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and others. The coordinator will also be reaching out to partner organizations to co-create joint promotions and special offers/incentives that focus on social media engagement and translate to more generated revenue. The coordinator must have a passion for the outdoors and sustainable transportation and tourism. The coordinator must also be organized and able to juggle multiple administrative duties across multiple platforms, always acting in timely manner. This role requires excellent interpersonal communication skills as well as a creative mindset paired with the ability to build constructive relationships with both BEST staff and stakeholders. The aim will be to create content that builds and strengthens an existing community as well as engaging new key target markets; with an aim to optimize the path to conversion as it relates to BEST’s projects.


  • Regularly interact and work closely with other team members from Parkbus and The Bicycle Valet

  • Work together with a team to better understand, develop, and implement a marketing strategy

  • Solve various challenges and help in decision making on a day-to-day basis

  • Manage The Bicycle Valet and Parkbus’ online following through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and email communication

  • Speak to the public at various events and planned outings


  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Familiarity and passion for tourism and outdoor recreation

  • Pursuing, or has experience in the fields of marketing, communications, events, public relations, branding, and advertising

  • Preference for those enrolled in a bachelor degree in economic development, tourism, outdoor recreation, or environmental/sustainable studies

  • Experience with social media marketing and using online platforms such as Facebook and Instagram

  • Ability to write creatively, clearly, and concisely
