Position: Marketing and Outreach Coordinator
Type: summer job / age 30 & under
Organization: Transportation Options
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Seasonal position: 30 hours/week at $18/hour, from June 25 to August 27, 2019

Overall Objectives:

  • Promoting and educating the general public about the sustainable transportation programs of Transportation Options, Parkbus & Ontario By Bike

  • Create content that builds and strengthens an existing community as well as engaging new key target markets; with an aim to optimize the path to conversion as it relates to Transportation Options' programs; Ontario By Bike and Parkbus. ie increase ticket and tour sales, and overall programs exposure.


  • Develop and implement a seasonal marketing plan

  • Develop and implement a social media calendar - creating, posting and regularly updating content pertaining to both projects on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and others.

  • Outreach to partner organizations to co-create joint promotions and special offers/incentives that focus on social media engagement and translate to more generated revenue (ticket & tour sales & overall increased program exposure)

  • Create a series of key performance indicators that will help evaluate the effectiveness and overall success of the marketing and outreach initiatives

  • Attend and participate in Parkbus and Ontario By Bike events

  • Assess organizations website, interact with Board members and staff to assist with assessment helping to make recommendations on improving content and design

  • Assist with and help fulfill consumer inquiries


  • Candidates must be between the ages of 15-30, as this is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position

  • Passion for the outdoors and/or sustainable transportation and tourism

  • Organized and able to juggle multiple administrative duties across multiple platforms, in a timely manner to meet deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as well as a creative mindset paired with the ability to build constructive relationships with both Transportation Options staff and stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/Social media etc.) and market research methods

  • Digital marketing experience with Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Instagram and email marketing campaigns

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, initiative and creativity
