Welcome to the Farm in the City! Steckle Heritage Farm is an Educational Farm operated by a non-profit, community based organization dedicated to providing agricultural, environmental and cultural programs to children and families in the Region of Waterloo. Settled in 1833 by John and Esther (Bleams) Steckle, it has been designated a heritage property by the City of Kitchener. Steckle Heritage Farm is a unique working farm and educational centre dedicated to providing a combination of hands on farm experiences and educational programs to youth, their families and the community.
Job title: Little Farmers & Half-Day Camp Educator
Reports to: Program Coordinator & Executive Director
Little Farmers is a key program within the educational program array offered by Steckle Heritage Farm. It is a parent/caregiver and child program which connects both participants with agriculture and the environment through hands on learning opportunities. Half-Day Agriventure is a summer camp program for children who have finished JK.
The educator will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for children and youth that embody our core values of honesty, respect and community. We lead all programs with an experiential learning model in mind. We are an inclusive, welcoming and supportive work environment that places importance on cooperation, flexibility and teamwork.
Duties and responsibilities
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date

Communication: Communicates in a thorough, clear and timely manner to support information sharing.
Concern for Health and Safety: Acknowledges and understands how to manage children and youth engaged in activities in a safe manner to minimize risks.
Initiative: Knows when to do the right thing.
Relationship Building and Collaboration: Positively interacts with others to build enthusiasm and appreciation, and to achieve work related goals.
