YMCA Wanakita offers a Summer Camp for Families! We are located in Haliburton, Ontario
Family Camp Area Heads are qualified instructors who also act as support personnel at camp. They have primary responsibilities in program planning, delivery and instruction and are responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, upkeep, and scheduling of their program area at camp. Most programs are geared towards participants of all ages and experience. They have additional responsibilities for evening programs, campfires, mealtime supervision, support tasks, and special events and activities as well as providing leadership within their area. Area Heads may be responsible for leading or co-leading one-night overnights on the lake for campers of varying ages.
Program Area Heads live in dormitory-style accommodations during the summer camp season at Wanakita. Program Area Heads may work independently and/or alongside another area head or support staff. They report to the Family Camp Program Facilitators and Director.
Successful applicants may be eligible to receive support in obtaining qualifications that are more expensive or are considered assets and are outside of the general swimming and First Aid qualifications for their respective positions.
All Family Camp Area Heads must have a valid Standard First Aid & CPR C certificate, valid through the duration of the summer contract. Since we are largely water-based camp, swimming certification in Bronze Cross or NLS is considered a significant asset.
Contract Duration: June 27–Sep 5 2020 (10 weeks)
