Position: Solar (PV) Technician
Employer: New Dawn Energy Solutions
Location: Markham, Greater Toronto Area, Ontario

New Dawn Energy Solutions is a dynamic energy technology company based in Markham, Ontario. We are currently looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic Solar Technician to work with our team of professionals. The successful candidate will be working with our installation and engineering teams to install and maintain solar PV, Energy Storage, EV Charging systems, and other projects in residential and commercial settings. Our Field Technicians play a critical role in ensuring that the energy systems are installed and maintained in an efficient and timely manner while adhering to safety procedures and standards.

As a New Dawn Energy team member, you will work as a team to coordinate and install renewable energy, Electric Vehicle charging Systems, and other projects at our customers’ facilities across Ontario and build demos. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Install, repair, and service energy systems in residential & commercial settings
  • Plan and set up worksite and material for installation
  • Assemble, install, maintain solar PV systems on pitched and flat roofs per drawings
  • Measure, cut, and install structural framing and solar modules per approved drawings
  • Install racking, ballast blocks, and solar panels per approved drawings and instructions
  • Install Solar PV, storage, EV charging system components, and cabling
  • Adhere to all applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Maintain a well-organized and clean work environment at workshop and sites
  • Determine the condition of energy systems and take appropriate protection
  • Obtain and keep up to date records for required certifications
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to complete tasks assigned professionally, efficiently promptly
  • Must be reliable, punctual and pay attention to detail
  • A team player who can work independently and as a team to meet the deadlines
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (abstract will be required)
  • Treat customers and job sites with respect, care and cleaning up any messes created
  • Ability to obtain the required security clearance when necessary
  • Experience with TECK cables, panel changes in a residential and commercial setting
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to work at heights and has up-to-date Working at Heights certificate
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more)
  • Strong attention to detail and dedicated to completing tasks as assigned
  • Ability to work in all outside weather conditions, weekends and long hours as required
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Good standing Ontario 309A Electricians License would be an asset
