Prowind Canada Inc. is a developer of renewable energy projects. We have a very engaged team of nine professionals and an exciting line-up of projects in various stages of development.

Position Specific Description

Prowind Canada Inc. is recruiting for the position of Director and President of several Prowind companies in North America. This talented individual will be the driver of generating business growth initiatives in Canada and the US. In this key role in particular, one will have the opportunity to lead Prowind's expansion across North America. We are seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial focus to build the internal capabilities and external relationships necessary to compete for renewable energy contracts. This strategic leadership role is also responsible for the development of community partnerships to jointly develop, finance, construct and operate RE projects. The role will be based in Hamilton, Ontario with the specific location flexible for the right candidate, and this role will report to the president and owner of Prowind GMBH.

To be successful in this role, the candidate needs to have excellent staff leadership ability, executive level experience - preferable in the energy development field - and a passion for sustainable dvelopment

Job Overview

This position is responsible for the business development functions of Prowind throughout the country. Leaders in this role are responsible for leading and coordinating key functions of a project such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design, project legal review, and financial negotiations. This position plays a key role in building strategic relationships and executing major contracts necessary to support Prowind Canada Inc.’s generating business growth initiatives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

i) The successful and profitable realisation of wind energy projects in North America, in conjunction with the direction from Prowind GmbH, with the internal technical advice, with the advice of the external sub-contractors, and to the most advantageous timetable;

ii) The execution of all processes that are required for the achievement of Community Partnership Program to acquire, partner and realize Community Partnership Projects in suiteable States and Provinces including project structure, building permit, grid connection, ppa, turbine supply, financial close, and construction of the projects, and the anticipation of the same;

iii) The coordination of all external contracts to enable the processes cited in ii) above to be met;

vi) Representing the Employer at various trade shows, community meetings and public events;

vii) Enhancement of the brand image, goodwill and reputation of the Employer in general; and such other advisory, operational or consultative functions as the Employer may reasonably require in connection with its activities.

The position is responsible in particular for the following:

i) Performance of the office of director and President of the company with honest intention, responsibility to the company and its colleagues and staff, and consideration of the vision and mission of the group as a whole;

ii) Coordination and reporting between the Board of Directors and the workforce employed by Prowind Canada Inc;

iii) Mutual creation and agreement of budgets, forecasts and historic accounting;

iv) Overall understanding and control of the employees and related requirements;

v) Responsibility for the development of projects, together with understanding of associated and anticipated risks;

vi) The provision of financial, advisory and operational supervision and guidance during all aspects of project and corporate existence;

vii) The sourcing, selection and direction of all sub-contractors and external Agencies;

viii) Evaluation of which processes should be outsourced, or which we should perform in-house;

ix) Identification of opportunities for cost savings in operational or project activities;

x) Ensuring steady progress of development for all projects;

xi) And such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to the Employee by the Board of Directors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters - Business Administration
  • 5 years executive level experience
  • Experience in Wind Energy Development
