Position: Education Coordinator
Organization: Water First Education and Training Inc.
Location: Creemore and/or work at home, Ontario
Eligibility: between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment (see below)

Water First is hiring an Education Coordinator to assist with the development and delivery of our water science education programs in northern First Nations communities and at local community events.

This is an 8 week full-time contract position, with a negotiable start of August 2020. Compensation is $20.00/hour for 37.5 hours/week. This position may lead to additional opportunities with Water First.


  • Accompany Water First’s Youth Education Department in the delivery of water science education programs in northern First Nation communities;
  • Assist in the research and development of water science workshops that engage community, involve hands-on learning resources, and are land-based;
  • Run Water First’s outreach workshops throughout the season;
  • Complete in-office administrative duties as they arise.


  • Must be pursuing or have a post-secondary degree/diploma, related but not limited to the fields of Development Studies, Education, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Geography, Indigenous Studies or Science.


  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills;
  • Experience working with children and youth;
  • Knowledge of administrative and presentation software including Google Drive, Prezi and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in collaboration with First Nations community members is an asset.
  • Experience developing educational programs is an asset.


  • Vulnerable Sector security check upon request;
  • Must be able to commute to Water First's Creemore office when required, Monday - Friday.
  • Must be comfortable with multiple days of travel when required.
  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Individuals who identify as Indigenous and women within the environmental science field are strongly encouraged to apply.
