Position: Events Coordinator
Organization: Forests Ontario
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Employment Type: One year, full-time contract 

Organizational Background
Forests Ontario, working with its partners, is dedicated to the renewal and stewardship of Ontario's forests. The goal of the organization is to support and promote forest restoration, stewardship, education and awareness initiatives.

Position Summary and Goals:

The Events Coordinator will be responsible for organizing, delivering and reporting on all of Forests Ontario Events. These events may include, but are not limited to, community tree plants, education-based events, Toronto Christmas Market, staff meetings/outings, education and outreach events. The Events Coordinator will work alongside all departments within Forests Ontario to ensure that events are delivered in a professional and efficient manner, fulfilling all contractual obligations between Forests Ontario and our partners. 


  • University Degree or College Diploma in Science and/or Education
  • Experience in event planning for an array of events (i.e. business meetings, community engagement events, awareness promotions, etc.)
  • 1-2 years management experience
  • Computer Skills particularly in design programs
  • Fundraising experience (financial and in-kind donations) a strong asset
  • Bilingual speaking proficiency in English/French is considered an asset*


  • Implement and manage a variety of project-related tasks that pertain to the planning of events
  • Assist with the development of event/project plans, budgets, coordination and delivery of events with external and internal partners
  • Ensure that all necessary reporting is completed and delivered
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of planning events with team members
  • Assist in the preparation of event communication plans and presentations
  • Create project related products in conjunction with fellow staff members
  • Liaise with partners, volunteers and co-workers as required to fulfill event duties  
  • Outreach to the public in order to secure event volunteers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to clearly define and articulate requirements
  • Flexibility with respect to working hours; able to work additional / varied hours as required
  • Expected to work weekend on

Between $40 to $48k based on experience
