About Evermeadow Farm:
Evermeadow is a regenerative, pasture-based livestock farm in the rolling hills of Northumberland County. Though building our agricultural enterprise is our current focus, Evermeadow Farm is a part of a larger ecological land management project aimed a restoring ecological resilience and diversity in our farm and the surrounding region.
Our mission is to operate an ecologically restorative farm that:
We are presently building the infrastructure, market, soil fertility, and production capacity that will eventually allow us to perform large scale landscape rehabilitation.
We work with animals that contribute to our ecological vision by exercising their innate instincts, while also providing ethical and nutritious food for our community. Our hens scratch up compacted soil and spread seed and fertile manure; our sheep manage the grass, distribute nutrients, and build soil; our pigs recycle waste nutrients and disturb the soil to prepare for re-seeding pastures; and our broiler chickens bring fertility into the farm as they move daily across the landscape.
In 2022 we will be represented at three Toronto area Farmer’s Markets, building on our expansion into the Toronto market in 2021.
We also sell our products directly from our farm gate, through local direct-market REKO networks, and at local farmer’s markets.
About the job:
The role will involve enthusiastically representing Evermeadow Farm at farmer’s markets on Saturday and Sundays.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up the market booth, keeping track of inventory, engaging with customers, answering questions, and selling our frozen meat products.
While expected to work self-sufficiently, the candidate will be provided comprehensive training and clear guidance and will enjoy ongoing support and daily collaboration with owner-operators Josh and Janita.
We will be operating booths at farmer’s markets in Toronto on Saturday and Sunday.
We will need to bring product from our farm near Cobourg each week.
This means we can consider candidates from both Toronto and Northumberland County.
If you live in Northumberland, you would drive into the city from here. If you live in Toronto, you would meet us in the city.
Hours and Schedule:
Saturdays 6/7am – 2/3pm (8-10 hours)
Sundays 7am – 2pm (8-9 hours)
Total weekly hours: 16-20.
Wages and Perks:
Starting at $17/hour. 15% discount on Evermeadow products. Monthly dinner gatherings at the farm for all Evermeadow staff.
