It is a key tourist attraction and regionally significant destination as the only aquarium in Greater Victoria/Southern Vancouver Island, and Canada's only aquarium and cultural centre for the Salish Sea. The Centre combines live aquarium habitats holding over 160 species and marine mammal artifact displays, with a permanent Coast Salish art collection, as well as public and school learning programs and locally-focused Salish Sea Store.
