Location: Caledon, GTA, Ontario
Since 2016 Mount Wolfe Farm has been operating as a family-run, small-scale, ecological vegetable and chicken farm in Caledon. In 2018 we 'branched' out from our regular farming operations to develop a parallel income stream foraging foliage for floral designers in Toronto & the GTA. This has since grown to now require an additional staff person to manage all aspects of what we call Mount Wolfe Branch Supply. This position starts in May and runs through November, with a few weeks off after frost (usually mid October) until 2-4 additional weeks for evergreen season (Mid November). If you require full-time, don't hesitate to inquire; we have a gardening sister-company that can easily provide supplemental hours during the week.
Estimated hours/week are 25-30 hours a week at an hourly rate of $24.00/hr
This is a physical job that requires lots of walking and lifting heavy buckets of water/branches in and out of vehicles. Gloves and protective clothing (workboots, workpants, long sleeves) required for most harvesting; plants can be thorny.
The responsibilities of this position would be to manage daily & weekly logistics of Mount Wolfe Branch Supply, including but not limited to these tasks in phases of training:
Attributes of our ideal candidate are:
For the right person, this position could rapidly (by spring 2025) evolve from one of seasonal employment with us to one of sole entrepeneur in partnership with the Mount Wolfe Farm land & business owners. If you're interested in running your own niche business in the floral industry and you're the right fit, this could be the opportunity you've been dreaming of!
