Hiring: Program Manager
Organization: ACRE
Location: Your office but some availability to attend Chelsea and our offices as may be required. (Chelsea QC, near Ottawa-Gatineau)

Who we are:

Action Chelsea for Respect of the Environment (ACRE) is an established non-profit charitable nature conservation organization with a mandate of protecting of the ecological integrity of Chelsea and other areas surrounding Gatineau Park. We work with a broad range of actors and partners (governmental and non-governmental) on ecological sustainability, public education and awareness, research on biodiversity values, the acquisition of lands and management of a land trust for nature conservation in the region. ACRE has an active and engaged Board of Directors that values collaboration, environmental leadership, performance and results.

What we are looking for:

ACRE is looking to contract with a Program Manager to help support our operations.

Work location: Your office but some availability to attend Chelsea and our offices as may be required.

Contract value: Approximately $70,000 for one year based on a level of effort equivalent to 35 hours per week – deliverables and contract duration to be discussed and agreed upon in a contract for services. Possibility of renewal on similar or different terms.

What we need help with:

  • Fundraising, grant reporting, property acquisition and management
  • Public awareness and events organization
  • Liaison with authorities and partners
  • Communications
  • Support to ACRE Board and member meetings
  • General organizational activities
  • Strategic planning, policy development, and implementation
  • Biodiversity monitoring, research and restoration on ACRE lands
  • Management of subcontractors
  • Membership and donor management

We are seeking candidates that are well organized, team players, and committed to nature conservation, with

  • ability to communicate effectively and work in both official languages (essential)
  • post-secondary education in environmental studies or a relevant field of study (desirable)
  • experience with environmental policy and land conservation (desirable)
  • experience with organizational operations and management (desirable)
  • knowledge of the Outaouais region and of government and non-government actors (desirable)
  • reasonable computer skills i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive (essential)
