Job Title: Program Manager
Program: Home Improvement Energy Rebates
Job Type: 12 month contract with opportunity for extension

Job Summary

Summerhill is eager to expand and build the capacity of our project management team in Calgary, Alberta. We invite candidates with experience delivering large scale programs, who are excited to take on new challenging programs and opportunities to apply.

The Project Manager (PM) will perform the following: provide direction and leadership for a contractor assisted incentive program; responsible for ensuring cohesive and consistent project delivery with a successful team and to the client’s satisfaction within established quality standards; lead the program planning, implementation and close-out processes while managing various other program deliverables; manage budgets and resources to maximize efficiencies; assist in the development and implementation of program marketing and outreach strategies; establish and grow relationships with contractors, retailers and other key program stakeholders; train and oversee the Customer Service Representative team that are processing rebates and answering customer calls; handle and resolve customer issues that are escalated from the CSR’s; oversee quality control and assurance of contractor installations and incentive applications to the program; work closely with the client(s) and program partners to achieve program goals.

This role reports to the Regional Director, Program Operations and may include support from Project Coordinator(s) and field based staff.

Project Management Responsibilities:

  1. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  2. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.

  3. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of the project and scope.

  4. Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client (internal or external clients).

  5. Effectively applies Summerhill methodology and enforces project quality standards.

  6. Minimizes organizational exposure and risk on project(s).

  7. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  8. Ensures project learnings and outcomes are captured and reported for future reference.

  9. Provides direct supervision to all subordinate members of the project team.

Project Accounting

  1. Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly.

  2. Ensures project legal documents are completed, signed and that contract obligations are executed.

  3. Tracks and reports team hours and expenses through various software programs.

  4. Manages project budget, including monthly review and reconciliation.

  5. Understands project pricing model and billing procedures.

  6. Ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors project receivables.

Business Development

  1. Identifies business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.

  2. Shares opportunities for project or client growth with appropriate Account Director.

  3. Effectively conveys corporate message in both written and verbal business development discussions.

  4. Develops project budgets for new project design based on knowledge of delivery and resource requirements

Communication

  1. Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.

  2. Holds regular status meetings with project team.

  3. Keeps project team well informed of changes to project scope and plan.

  4. Effectively communicates relevant project information to project stakeholders, internal and external clients.

  5. Ensures all program delivery partners are comfortable with the program scope and uses various forms of communication to ensure key messages, dates and information are delivered and understood.

  6. Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations and training sessions.

  7. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.

  8. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Stakeholder Management

  1. Manages day-to-day interaction with project stakeholders (internal and external customers, vendors and other interested parties).

  2. Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster ongoing relationships.

  3. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs.

Preferred skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field including energy/resource management, business, marketing, etc.

  • 3-5 years experience, with preference for previous experience as an energy advisor.

  • Experience and strong interest in energy efficiency or environmental programs.

  • Experience managing large scale programs with various clients, including providing quality control and budget accountability.

  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with building science and home improvement/renovation concepts.

  • Broad understanding of energy efficiency concepts, technologies, applications, and terminology.

  • Knowledge and/or familiarity of retail and sales channels.

  • Track record of excellent customer service and outstanding level of professionalism.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Professional designations considered an asset include:

    • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Professional skills:

  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills and the ability to effectively support multiple projects.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to effectively work cross functionally; source information, obtain approvals, build relationships, and provide sufficient influence to achieve success.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; comfortable giving presentations and delivering training to various audiences

  • Ability to work independently, remotely and as part of a dynamic team.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Connect and Google Applications with an aptitude to learn internal software and other relevant applications
