Position: Studio and Small-Scale Production Assistant

Location: downtown Toronto, Ontario

Matter Company is a small, and growing natural skincare company located in downtown Toronto. We produce holistic, plant based, lifestyle products to help bring balance to the needs of our hectic urban lives. Our products are sold in health food stores and small boutique stores across Canada, with an emphasis on the baby and juvenile industry. We also participate in consumer show events, twice seasonally, a year. We are presently seeking to fill the role of studio support and small-scale manufacturing assistant.

As this is a multi-faceted and hands-on position, you are someone who is comfortable with all aspects of production, and fulfillment: the ability to follow recipes, a high attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and effectively manage your time to meet quotas and deadlines. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, and able to work both independently as well as in a team setting.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Production/ Small Scale Manufacturing:

  • Support all aspects of production process, assisting in the production of natural skin care products
  • Compound, pour & fill products including dry & prepared goods (ie teas, salts, oils and creams)
  • Label finished inventory
  • Assemble gift sets
  • Prepare stock for upcoming retail shows
  • Ensure high quality standards are met by every component being produced
  • Assist in all necessary tasks and functions of day to day operations (ie. production, labeling, filing and distribution)

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Driving: Pick up & drop off materials to local vendors; maintaining positive relationship with suppliers
  • Receive incoming orders, and load goods to appropriate area (Some heavy lifting will be required)
  • Accurately receive shipments, monitoring packing slips and purchase orders for discrepancies and errors
  • Help with trade show set up and take down. Working weekend hours and driving is required
  • Assist in picking and packing of incoming retail & wholesale orders for shipping, ensuring orders are received in a good state and timely manor
  • Ensure a clean work environment – maintaining production, shipping and distribution areas and helping with overall maintenance duties

Requirements:

  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain a clean work environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedure
  • Comfortable with minor repetitive tasks
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and integrity with work
  • Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team; ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
