Position: Parks and Trails Crew
Type: full-time seasonal / students welcome
Organization: Hendrick Farm Foundation
Location: Old Chelsea, Quebec, just north of Ottawa-Gatineau

Start date: Early May or depending on weather and availability (students welcome)

Pay: $15/hour, full-time over the spring and summer

The Hendrick Farm Foundation’s Parks and Trails Department is looking for an enthusiastic and hard working individual who enjoys working in a positive environment in an outdoor setting. We believe in a strong sense of community and would like to welcome you to ours.

The Hendrick Farm Foundation’s mission is to provide leadership and financial support for local food system development, land conservation, environmental education, and community engagement. As a registered not-for-profit organization, the foundation provides educational resources for students and professionals interested in local agriculture, conservation development, innovative land use, and planning and environmental stewardship.

Supervised by the Head of Parks and Trails, the Parks and Trail Crew are responsible for assisting in: managing landscaping projects in the community, installing basic trail, park and pathway infrastructure, watering lawns and gardens, planting trees, occasionally assisting with the Agriculture and Gardening departments when needed, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leveling and raking soil and gravel
  • Seeding lawns
  • Installing basic fences and other building projects
  • Aiding in chainsaw work
  • Watering
  • Tree planting
  • Working near or on heavy equipment
  • Trail mulching
  • Assisting with organization and maintenance of tools and equipment

Required Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an important asset.
  • Field work or landscaping experience
  • Ability to work in all types of inclement weather
  • Physically fit, able to lift and carry heavy weights
  • Ability to use manual and powered equipment
  • Able to work in close teams
  • Experience operating a tractor is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of farming, gardening, trail building, tree care, ecology or other relevant skills considered an asset


  • Must provide own steel toed work boots
  • Must be prepared for all types of weather
  • Must complete a daily time sheet
  • Must have transportation to and from Hendrick Farm
