Position Overview:

Contract Duration: 1 year — September 3, 2019 to September 2, 2020.

Location: Albion Hills Field Centre: 16500 Peel Regional Rd. 50, L7E 3E7

As the on-site, live-in-member of the Albion Hills Field Centre staff team, provide assistance and support to the weekday education program through teaching, client service and administrative duties. Tasks include overseeing the health and welfare needs of groups visiting the field centre, supervising students' routines, some light building maintenance, and leading or assisting with education lessons and activities during the school year and summer camp. Provide excellent customer and client service. Working safely is a condition of employment.


Perform the following tasks under general supervision:

  • Lead or co-lead immersive, hands-on, curriculum-based education programs, lessons and activities as part of an overnight visit.
  • Lead or co-lead on development and delivery of overnight summer camp programs.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties as assigned by on-site supervisor.
  • Host field centre visitors and provide excellent client service. Represent the TRCA in a professional manner.
  • Complete light housekeeping duties as requested
  • Provide overnight, on-call support for visiting leaders as well as emergency response for four nights per week.


  • Post-secondary education in environmental studies, outdoor recreation, education or a related field;
  • 1 year teaching and/or related experience, preferably in an outdoor setting;
  • Member in good standing, Ontario College of Teachers an asset;
  • Daily access to a vehicle and a valid Ontario Driver’s License an asset;
  • Experience with recreational camp programs an asset;
  • First Aid CPR Level C Certification required.

  • Excellent outdoor and environmental teaching skills;
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills;
  • Good organization and computer skills;
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
