Title: Snowshoe Guide
Department: Outdoor Education
Reports to: Outdoor Education Supervisors & Outdoor Education Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Snowshoe Guides will lead groups of 2 to 22 people through winter mountain terrain delivering interpretive and experiential snowshoe programs 2 to 3 hours in length. Safety of guests and the delivery of quality programs are of the utmost importance. If you love environmental education and sharing your passion for the outdoors, then this is the role for you.

THIS POSITION IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

  • You can lead high quality interpretive snowshoe tours, which include programs that cover plant and animal adaptations to winter, winter safety and survival skills, nature games, fitness, etc.
  • You value group safety and strive to ensure each individuals needs are accounted for.
  • You have role modeling preparedness, wilderness etiquette and respect for environment and healthy lifestyle.
  • You want to share your passion for nature and the outdoors.
  • A knowledge of or an interest in learning more about First Nations history of the local area.

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU:

  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • Education and/or background in a related field (Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Sciences, Education) or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • Reliable, engaging and mature.
  • Experience as a group leader/guide in an outdoor setting.
  • Experience working with children in an outdoor setting.
  • Wilderness travel experience, skills, knowledge, and awareness.
  • Valid First Aid certificate (Standard First Aid)
  • Wilderness First Aid an asset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Seasonal position, December thru to mid-April.

Type of employment: Part-time, availability dependant
Hourly wage range: $17.00 - 19.50
Complimentary Season’s pass and shuttle bus pass.
