We are seeking a Leadership Coordinator to become a key member of our team and help us build our program beginning this Fall. This position would ideally evolve into a Leadership Director position with added responsibilities and pay. There is also the potential of becoming the Wild Camp Director which will have additional pay.
This person is a multi-talented and creative outdoor educator. They have a background in program development, management, and wilderness leadership. They are passionate about the outdoors and making a difference with youth. They are highly emotionally intelligent and are a gifted facilitator.
He/she will be responsible for the development and implementation of our leadership program. This will involve 1-hour classes throughout the weekdays in the afternoons for each of our classes that range from K to grade 6. You will also be responsible developing and running our Wild Friday’s program, which involves students that come to Wild for 1 day of the week to learn leadership and wildernessskills. https://wildschool.ca/wild-fridays/
In addition you will be responsible for some admin, marketing and miscellaneous work to help grow the organization.
The BMWS Leadership Coordinator is required to have a strong knowledge of the natural world, be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and be adaptable to teaching to a widerange of students (from JK to 6) in an outdoor setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in experiential and outdoor education curriculum development, be creative, passionate about the outdoors and making a difference with youth.
Valid driver’s license and access to your own vehicle is required in order to travel to our various program locations within the Blue Mountains region.
Demonstrated experience in experiential education and leadership curriculum
OCT qualifications in good standing is an asset.
Experience in backcountry guiding and tripping an asset
As a condition of employment, a valid Police Records Check (for working with the Vulnerable Sector) completed within the last 6 months is required prior to commencing work.
Beginning compensation is in the range of $180 to $220 / day + ben commensurate with skills and experience. Our intention is to far exceed all other outdoor education programs and be competitive with Private Schools.
