Position: Forest Preschool Teacher
Organization: Wild Path Forest School
Location: NeustadtGrey County, Ontario

Wild Path Forest School is a small forest school program located on a beautiful 100-acre organic farm near Neustadt, ON. We are seeking a teacher for our new forest preschool program. This is a small unlicensed child care program and will have five children enrolled. We are looking for a teacher who can introduce children to nature, art, early literacy and numeracy in a nurturing environment.

As a school we are dedicated to fostering deep connection between children and the natural world through play and exploration in forests, fields, and gardens. It is our mission to help children develop confidence, resilience and a sense of wonder, ultimately empowering children to become stewards of the natural environment.

Your role:

  • lead our part-time preschool program for children aged 2-4
  • communicate student learning to parents through documentation and discussion
  • support children in their exploration and extend their learning by providing resources and encouraging inquiry
  • model care and respect for the natural world
  • provide positive discipline and guide children through conflicts in a respectful, caring manner
  • ensure the safety of children while engaged in forest play, in proximity to standing water, streams, and farm equipment
  • complete paperwork and administrative support
  • attend educator meetings and forest school related events

The ideal candidate will:

  • be excited to connect and learn with (and from!) some amazing children
  • have knowledge of or interest in the following topics: forest ecology, wildlife tracking, edible and medicinal plants, navigation, bird language
  • be willing to commit to ongoing learning
  • be comfortable working outside with enthusiasm in all weather conditions
  • musical skills are a plus!

Preferred qualifications:

  • Forest School Practitioner, Ontario Certified Teacher, ECE, or a background in education or environmental science
  • experience in nature-based mentoring with children
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C required by date of hire
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required by date of hire

Hours: Monday-Wednesday, 7:30-3:00
Compensation: Starting wage is $20.00/hour.
