Hiring: Organic veg harvesting (Fall Harvest)
Positions: 4 positions, 8 weeks
Organization: Everdale
Eligibility: age 30 or younger (see below)

Location: Hillsburgh/Erin, near Guelph, Ontario

Purpose of the position:

No previous farming or gardening experience required, just a positive approach, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work outside Monday to Friday; 35 hours per week. Successful applicants will be trained to harvest storage crops (carrots, beets, squash, potatoes) and grow/harvest other fall crops at Everdale’s organic vegetable farm.

Start dates: Contracts are 8 weeks long from your start date.
Pay: $17.60 per hour; 30% off all food items in Everdale’s farm store.
Hours per week: 35 hours; Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work.
Work location: Everdale, 5812 Sixth Line, Hillsburgh, Ontario

Housing: You can commute or live on the farm. We have dorm accommodations for those who are interested in living on the farm. Rent is $475/month. Private bedroom. Shared living space, bathroom, and kitchen.
COVID/Monkey Pox safety: Everdale follows all directives and laws as prescribed by the Ontario Government and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.
Eligibility: Successful applicants must be: 30 years old or younger; and, hold a valid SIN number; and, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status.

Job expectations:

• Be punctual and ready to work selected hours.
• Be committed to working safely and efficiently.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Able to perform physical, repetitive farming and gardening tasks.
• Able to work outside in a wide range of weather conditions.

• Able to consistently take a positive solution-based approach to challenges.
• Work occasional weekends and holidays, with notice.
• Perform general farming tasks that you are trained to do, such as planting, weeding, irrigation, and harvesting.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and beautiful farm.
• Strive to carry out Everdale’s mission and objectives and mandate.
• Communicate openly and respectfully with others.
