Job Purpose:

The Farm Operations Manager is an integral role, essential to the daily flow of operations, the coordination of key players and their works, and the overall success of the farm property. The individual in this position keeps a pulse on each aspect of Farm life and strives to establish and maintains positive relationships between all departments.

The quality, quantity and variety of crops grown and harvested will be researched and decided upon between the farmers, chefs and Farm Manager. Organized and driven, the candidate for this role is responsible for quality control, forecasting yields and annual budgets, effectively managing the fiscal aspects of the property.

Along with other members of the executive Pearle Hospitality team, the Farm Manager is actively involved in creating and developing the vision of the Farm as its concept grows and evolves over time and space.

Duties & Responsibilities:

LEADERSHIP/ ATTITUDE

• Exhibit a positive optimism and upbeat personality toward fellow management, operations team members, farmers, vendors, professionals, business partners & guests
• Communicate, and be an example of, Pearle’s core values by demonstrating genuine and thoughtful hospitality in the day-to-day execution of duties.
• Demonstrate a commitment to further develop skills and knowledge and take initiative toward accomplishing personal and professional development goals
• Graciously adapt schedule when necessary, work beyond regular hours when called for

HUMAN RESOURCES/ RELATIONSHIPS

• Act as a mentor to farmers and farm staff: embody a great service culture, and create a high level of standards and excellence.
• Work directly with the farmers and operations staff to ensure overall team organization, development and the achievement of property goals
• Contribute feedback to and conduct farmer evaluations/performance reviews
• Oversee the entire recruitment process for new farmers and farm staff- from job postings to reference checks to on-boarding
• Provide orientation for new farm staff and assist in creating training schedules/programs
• Cultivate partnerships with Pearle chefs, constantly communicating to ensure successful and meaningful relationships.

CAPACITY OF WORK/FISCAL MANAGEMENT

• Manage day-to-day operations, daily decision-making, scheduling, and planning, all the while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
• Observe quality of each crop, troubleshoot with farmers when necessary to find solutions to suffering/unfruitful product
• Monitor financial performance of various aspects of the property and make adjustments as necessary to maintain profitability and efficiency
• Create both short and long term budgeted financial goals

• Work closely with the President and Director of Culinary to continue developing the many aspects of the farm vision
• Bring the farm vision to life by creating a comprehensive plan to advance and execute initiatives
• Foster and support positive relationships with community members and organizations

ORGANIZATION/ PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

• Oversee building maintenance and upkeep, liaise with all departments to ensure systems, equipment and infrastructure is in good working order and properly maintained
• Ensure proper control systems are in place and enforce procedures to protect all assets
• Ensure facilities are code compliant with all government regulations and all Pearle Policies with respect to Health & Safety are effectively enforced.
• Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to ensure organizational efficiency
