ORGANIC FARMING JOBS

Position: Organic Farm Worker
Farm: Little Fields Farm
Location: Bright, Ontario. Half-hour southwest of Kitchener. 

We're looking for a hard-working and passionate person to join the farm for the 2021 season!

Little Fields Farm is a small-scale organic farm about a half-hour southwest of Kitchener, Ontario. We grow an acre of vegetables for a 100-member CSA program and raise pastured laying hens, chickens, turkeys and pigs. Our goal is to produce good food in a way that works with the natural environment and the natural instincts of the animals we raise. You would be working alongside the farmer and a handful of regular volunteers to help run all aspects of the farm.

Responsibilities include:

• Planting, weeding and harvesting vegetables, herbs and flowers
• Providing the animals with food and water and moving them to new pasture
• Helping to distubute CSA shares at the weekly CSA pickups

Hours:

7am-5pm Monday-Friday with an hour unpaid lunch break, and 10am-1pm on Saturdays

Duration:

May 3rd - October 30th

Wage:

$15/hour and a weekly supply of vegetables

Qualifications:

• Previous farm experience is ideal but not required
• Must have a passion for sustainable agriculture
• The ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis and perform physically difficult and repetitive tasks in the garden, such as squating, bending, kneeling etc.
• Must be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions (with the exception of thunderstorms)
• The ability to take initiative and learn new tasks quickly
• The ability to work quickly and with attention to detail
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the farm
