Scales Nature Park is a 21 hectare conservation area located just south of Orillia, Ontario. The focus of this facility is the conservation of reptiles, amphibians, and fish, and the habitats that these animals require.
Duties will vary with the nature of each position, but will include:
Duration: Varies with position, approximately 16 weeks with extension up to one year internship possible
Salary: Varies depending on the position ($14/hr). Shared accommodations may be available.
Strong oral communications skills required. Positions require speaking to the public, answering questions, and supervising the handling of animals. Positive attitude and willingness to help people get over their fears are essential. Some positions require presentations to large crowds. Animal care tasks will be routine. Valid G or G2 driver’s license and good driving record required. Flexibility regarding scheduling is important. Accommodation may be available on-site.
Candidates should enjoy working both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of settings. The ability to thrive as part of a close-knit team in challenging situations and a live/work environment is important, especially for travel positions.
