This is a part time (three days or 22.5 hours per week) one year contract position, working primarily with the Director of Operations and Executive Director.

Core to your role is ensuring the smooth running of the organization and providing the conditions in which all staff at Sierra Club BC can succeed. You are a very well organized people person who enjoys a high energy team environment. You play a key role in looking out for the wellbeing of all Sierra Club BC staff. Your values are aligned with those of Sierra Club BC.

There is a possibility, subject to development of Sierra Club BC’s 2021 budget, of contract extension and/or expanded hours.


  • Manage incoming traffic of emails, phone calls and mail to the office. Log incoming donations.
  • Assist the Executive Director and Operations Director in board relations and in decision/policy documentation, and in planning and organizing major staff events such as planning retreats.
  • Assist the Operations Director in:
    • the documentation and implementation of personnel policies and procedure; preparation, signing and filing of employment contracts, tracking of vacation, overtime, sick days etc.; and ensuring all personnel files are secure and up to date.
    • ensuring IT equipment and services are serving staff and organizational needs.
  • Assist the Executive Director as needed. Advise the Executive Director, Operations Director and Campaigns Director on staff wellness.
  • Act as first point of contact for staff in providing information and advice regarding Sierra Club BC personnel policies.
  • Liaise with suppliers and ensure contracts are negotiated/renewed as needed.
  • Ensure the office is properly stocked with supplies, liaise with landlord and cleaning staff, and arrange for repairs/service as needed.
  • Ensure office equipment is properly inventoried and stored. Ensure procedures for disposal of documents are properly followed.
  • Schedule and organize staff meetings and events. Manage staff fund for office events, celebrations and gifts.
  • Working with the Bookkeeper, manage petty cash and related expenses.


  • At least two years experience in office administration or equivalent.
  • Organized, meticulous and detail oriented.
  • Collaborative approach, with strong people skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Familiarity and facility with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Self-starting approach and comfortable working remotely while pandemic restriction remain in place.
  • Alignment with Sierra Club BC values, commitment to climate justice, ecosystem conservation and the principles of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion are important considerations in choosing the successful candidate.


  • Pay rate is $25 per hour, 22.5 hours per week.
