Positions: Multiple Volunteer Positions

We are searching for passionate volunteers in all areas of British Columbia to work on the administrative details of our operations as we build capacity. You do not need expertise on bees. Specifically, we’re seeking to fill four positions, which could potentially be combined.

Co-chair (leadership role shared by two members)

The Society is seeking an individual who would take a leadership role in the administration of the organization as a Co-chair of the Board. This individual would be expected to work with the Board to oversee the operational running of the Society, including monthly meetings and AGM, and to plan for the future of the Society. Specific tasks will include

  • Chairing meetings of the Board of Directors;
  • Developing agenda for board meetings;
  • Working with the board to seek volunteers for committees and coordinating individual board member assignments;
  • Helping guide and mediate board actions with respect to organizational priorities and governance concerns;
  • Reviewing annually matters of governance that relate to the Board’s structure, role, and relationship to management;
  • Working closely with the Treasurer to ensure the proper management of the Society’s finances; and
  • Taking a leadership role in forming positive connections with community partners and alliances.


We’re seeking a capable and organized individual who is:

  • Familiar with provincial non-profit financial structure, gaming funds, grants and charitable status applications;
  • Committed to accuracy, transparency and timeliness;
  • Manages the society’s budget and submits financial reports;
  • Manages the finances of the organization, including the board’s review of and action related to, financial responsibilities;
  • Serves as a co-signer of cheques with at least one another signing officer;
  • Verifies that donations are handled appropriately and that grants and service delivery contracts are accounted for in accordance with the requirements of funders; and
  • Ensures that the organization maintains the appropriate financial books and records and that these are accurate and up-to-date.

Event/Volunteer Coordinator

We are seeking an organized individual who can engage with new and established volunteers and who can:

  • Coordinate live events and webinars by organizing volunteers for each event;
  • Act as host or co-host for events on Zoom, or organize another volunteer to take on that role;
  • Help the society apply for the the proper insurance for live events;
  • Create call-outs for the volunteers we need for each event;
  • Organize a team to create and distribute publicity for events; and
  • Help volunteers find their niche within the organization


We are seeking a committed individual who is familiar with Wix and can work with Society members to maintain and update the website.


Our candidates should have reliable web access and a schedule that allows them to volunteer with the society 5+ hours monthly throughout the year. We are looking for individuals who are motivated to work on their own and also collaborate with our team.

All Board Members need to be members of the Society and attend monthly board meetings (on Zoom) and other committee meetings as needed. They must devote a few hours each month on accomplishing specific tasks according to the evolving needs of the Society and the capacity of the individual. They are expected to take part in activities with respect and decorum according to our community agreement. We are committed to inclusivity and fairness and use Slack and e-mail to keep the lines of communication open and transparent. (Tutorials are available for the Slack application.)
