Employer: Mt Seymour Resorts
Location: North Vancouver, BC
Dates: mostly Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays, June through August

Position Summary: Mt Seymour Resort is seeking strong environmental role models to work as Park Interpreters. Our Interpreters share their passion and appreciation for nature and provide environmental education and programming to the general public. The goal of Park Interpretation is to cultivate nature appreciation through deeper understanding of the local ecology that surrounds us.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Mt Seymour Park Summer Interpreters will welcome visitors, answer general questions and Deliver interpretive programs to visitors on the trails at Mt Seymour Provincial Park.

Duties will include:

  • Refining existing interpretive programs
  • Presenting the park's natural and cultural features and recreational opportunities in the park through informative and entertaining programming
  • Promoting programming and accurately record attendance
  • Act as roving interpreter throughout the park and encourage visitors to attend programs
  • Positive role modeling as an environmental steward
  • Inform park visitors about park conservation values, about safe and appropriate behaviour in the outdoors, and about other attractions in the region


  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in environmental studies, biology-related program, geography, education, fish & wildlife or outdoor recreation.
  • Effective and engaging public speaking skills
  • Strong initiative and willingness to work with minimal supervision
  • Clear communicator both written and spoken
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for working with the public
  • Natural history knowledge
  • Exemplifies such qualities as: social and environmental responsibility, safety awareness, flexibility, sense of humor, and a passion for continuous learning and mentorship ·Demonstrated group leadership skills in an outdoor (preferably wilderness) setting ·Knowledge of wilderness skills, safety and etiquette


  • Knowledge of local First Nations history and culture
  • Training or experience working with children with special needs
  • Reliable transportation ·Class 4 driver’s license
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Familiarity with Mt Seymour summer hiking trails
  • Knowledge of Mt Seymour flora and fauna
  • Primitive survival skills and bushcraft knowledge an asset


  • Must be available for entire employment duration from June through to August.
  • Part-time hours mostly Fridays Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal record check
  • Must be willing to work on a mountain top in challenging weather and environmental conditions
  • Starting wage is $13-$15
