Position: Quality Assurance Manager

Quality Assurance Manager

We are looking for a full-time Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be self-directed, with the ability to communicate extensively with all departments on relevant QA issues. The position involves making high-level management decisions, as well as completing small day-to-day tasks.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain existing QA systems, and develop/implement new processes/protocols
  • Perform routine analytical tests on kombucha/jun through all stages of the fermentation process
  • Perform shelf-life tests on bottled kombucha and jun
  • Perform tests to evaluate and monitor yeast and bacterial health
  • Perform necessary microbiological sampling
  • Participate in sensory evaluation of kombucha/jun
  • Data analysis of all quality results
  • Identify problem areas and contribute to problem-solving with brewing, flavouring, fermenting, packaging and maintenance
  • Train new and existing employees in QA practices and ensure that protocols are being followed by tracking and monitoring of internal data
  • Ensure all certifications are current and up to date (ProCert, CFIA, etc.)


  • Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Food Science is required
  • Brewery or larger scale fermentation experience is preferred
  • Food and/or Beverage experience is an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Sensory training and experience
  • Strong microbiology skills are desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills


  • Ability to work Monday-Friday (~35 hours per week)
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and continue to be an active team player when challenges occur
  • Must have strong communication skills


  • Profit sharing (after probationary period)
