Term: Paid, 35+ hours/week, through March 2023*
Employer: Eat Local Grey Bruce
Location: Meaford, between Owen Sound & Collingwood, Ontario
Are you passionate about sustainability? Do you have an interest in local food? Are you looking for a job that allows you to apply your skills in values-based work that makes a difference? Come join an energetic team of local food lovers that support the building of a vibrant local food system. We aim to offer engaging employment and professional growth. In co-operative spirit, we work closely with producers, consumers ("eaters"), and our community at large.
Eat Local Grey Bruce is a not-for-profit co-operative of producers and eaters. We envision a vibrant, sustainable, and accessible local food system. We currently operate an online farmers' market, aggregating food in our Meaford warehouse and distributing to homes throughout Grey-Bruce and Collingwood. We also regularly collaborate with other organizations within Bruce and Grey Counties, as well as holding events related to our Vision and Mission that are open to the community at large.
The role of Co-operative Intern is primarily based out of our Warehouse in Meaford and supports other Cooperative Managers in their roles. In addition to operational duties in the Warehouse, the candidate will have exposure to a wide breadth of the organization, with space to take on projects based on interest and need – in-warehouse operations, outreach, events, etc. Interest in capturing content for communications and social media would be a bonus. Expectation of some evening and weekend hours (some outreach/events are scheduled on Saturdays).
Do you have what it takes to work in our organization?
We are hopeful that the recipient would be willing to commit to several months with the organization (with the possibility of extension).
*Please note: The Co-operative Intern role is a grant-based position that has conditions that apply. Under the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy, recipients must be a youth (under 30), and eligible to work in Canada. This grant also prioritizes individuals with barriers. Refer to the Government of Canada YES program guide for further details.
We are also currently recruiting full-time summer students as well as part time and occasional warehouse positions.
