The Manager, Marketing supports the Ancillary Services portfolio (Dining Services, Meeting, Event and Conference Services, Parking and Sustainable Mobility Services, Bookstore and Spirit Shop, Document Solutions) spanning all three campuses. The Manager develops the comprehensive marketing, communications, brand management and sustainability strategy for the portfolio in alignment with University priorities and the vision and goals of the overall Ancillary Service portfolio. A key function of the role is to develop cohesive social media platforms for the portfolio, centralize the website and app support for Dining Services, enhance the e-commerce presence of Document Solutions and the Bookstore/Spirit Shop, and drive the SFU Fair Trade Campus program. The Manager focuses on revenue-growth, sustainability and employee and community engagement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications with five years of related progressive experience in social media, brand management, publishing, graphic design, and/or sustainability, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing and communication fundamentals and principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of sustainability including a good knowledge of the fair trade movement.
  • Ability to develop highly effective marketing materials.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, media production, mobile technology, etc. and ability to use desktop publishing programs and media software applications and equipment (e.g. Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, video editing, Apps, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Generation Z aptitudes, needs and desires.
  • Ability to develop and manage project plans and to develop effective marketing and communications strategies and guidelines in a digital and social media environment.
  • Ability to design and develop print, video, and digital advertising and marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to use a variety of standard software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and video editing software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, public speaking, and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
  • Excellent leadership, motivational, organizational, and team building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles.
