Position: Program Coordinator
Reporting to: Program Manager

Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Type: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: November 9th, 2020
Salary: $40,000 including extended health and dental benefits

About Us

Food Stash Foundation is a registered charity founded in 2016 with the mission to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and assist food security in our community. We do so by rescuing perishable food from suppliers across Vancouver and redirecting it to charities and households that experience food insecurity. We currently rescue over 60,000 lb. of perishable food from going to waste and redistribute it to over 15 charities through daily deliveries, and to over 75 families through our weekly Rescued Food Box and Pedal to Plate delivery programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and facilitating all activities of the Rescued Food Box Program and Pedal to Plate initiative to ensure programs run effectively and smoothly. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in the Food Stash team of reaching our goal to support over 100 families each week by March 2021. We’re looking for someone who is exceptionally organized, an excellent communicator and problem-solver, and able to lead tasks independently while being part of a cohesive and passionate team!

  • You’re able to comfortably lift up to 50 pounds and complete labour intensive tasks - this role includes lifting and moving boxes of food regularly!
  • You’re proficient with computer applications and technology (Gmail, Google Drive, Quickbooks, etc)
  • You thrive when you’re working and connecting with people - you will be leading various volunteer sessions!
  • You’re comfortable organizing variable workloads with multiple tasks and timelines
  • You’re self-motivated, passionate, are able to take initiative and have outstanding interpersonal skills

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
  • 1 or more years’ professional experience in a similar capacity, preferred
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, an asset
  • Nonprofit and/or charity sector experience, an asset
  • Valid BC Driver’s license is required
  • Food Safe Certification required (can be completed upon offer of employment)
  • Offer of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory criminal record check and driver abstract

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator oversees and leads all activities related to Food Stash food security programs, including Rescued Food Box and Pedal to Plate, and is responsible for:

  • Facilitating programming which includes: preparation of food boxes; onboarding, leading and training volunteers
  • Overseeing and collaborating with the Program Assistant to ensure all aspects of programming run smoothly and on schedule
  • Collaborating with the Program Manager regarding volunteers and scheduling
  • Coordinating and communicating with Rescued Food Box and Pedal to Plate members and stakeholders regarding changes, scheduling, and intake/referral forms
  • Leading and coordinating referral and intake process for new members
  • Ensuring incoming food at YVR Prep is maintained and organized
  • Tracking and reporting on program metrics, including monthly KPIs and weight of food collected through warehouse
  • Participating in additional programs and/or special projects as needed
