Position: Green Facility Labourers
Organization: Pacific Northwest Raptors Ltd.
Location: Duncan, BC
Eligibility: age 30 or younger (see below)

The Raptors is a bird of prey and falconry organization dedicated to raising awareness for birds of prey and promoting conservation. We have openings for four Green Facility Labourers to join our team!

This position would be based out of our visitor centre in Duncan, BC, and would be responsible for the daily maintenance and grounds keeping around the facility, under the direction of property management. Duties would include: Regular groundskeeping, maintenance of buildings and aviaries across the site, assisting with construction or new projects, and other physical tasks as needed.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • Some post-secondary education, ideally in a science-related field
  • Adaptability to a variety of work and tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Passion for and experience with animals, especially birds
  • Passion for conservation and the environment
  • A valid BC drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Excellent physical fitness, and the ability to lift/move heavy loads (>50lbs)
  • Carpentry or cabinetry experience
  • Experience with the use of power tools, and basic grounds-keeping machinery
  • Experience with landscaping or other property maintenance

An exceptional candidate would also possess:

  • First aid skills

These are part-time, seasonal positions, with the possibility of continuation after the work term is over. Wages start at $17-18/hr depending on experience. These are a contract, funded position for applicants under thirty years of age, and qualified applicants must have or be working towards a diploma or degree in a science field.
