About the Role:

Carbonzero is recruiting for the temporary position of Junior GHG Analyst (Summer) on the Advisory Services team. Carbonzero’s Advisory Services team delivers on a number of consulting services relating to the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, including but not limited to corporate GHG Inventories and GHG Reduction Strategies.

  • Location: Remote – Working Hours are in the Eastern Time Zone
  • Job Type: Full-Time (32.5 hours/week with half day Summer Fridays) – 8 to 10 weeks
  • Wage: $20.00 / hour (+4% vacation pay)
  • Closing Date: Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
  • Planned Term: Late June 2023 to Late August 2023

Key Responsibilities:

As a Junior GHG Analyst on the Advisory Services team, your key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • GHG Measurement & Reduction Client Projects (70%)
    • Assist in the completion of GHG Inventories in alignment with leading corporate accounting and reporting methodologies.
    • Support GHG emissions quantification of conferences and events under Carbonzero's Green Event Services offering.
    • Extract client data from utility invoices, fuel statements, and other billing formats for integration into GHG Inventory workbooks.
    • Research and identify potential GHG reduction projects that are feasible for Carbonzero’s various clients as part of their GHG reduction strategies.
    • Take instruction from the broader Advisory Services team to support ad hoc client deliverables when required.
  • Research and Internal Projects (30%)
    • Research and document emission factors for use in GHG measurement projects.
    • Research and identify potential project related tasks as they pertain to active client engagements.

Preferred Experience:

As the Junior GHG Analyst on the Advisory Services team, we anticipate that you will bring many of the following experiences:

  • You have a strong background and working knowledge of climate change and how it is being approached in the corporate sector.
  • You have interest in pursuing a career at the intersection of business and environment.
  • You have experience working with data, and have demonstrated numeracy skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • You exhibit professional behaviour and have a high level of integrity when it comes to maintaining client confidentiality and privacy.
  • You work well in small, remote-based teams.

Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in post secondary studies in Canada or be recent graduates of a recognized Canadian post secondary program.
