Position: Program Coordinator
Organization: Product Care Assocation
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

If you are environmentally minded, interested in making a difference, and have experience in the environmental field or operations supply chain we are looking for a Manitoba based Program Coordinator. This position is a full time position or can be a contracted position.

Product Care Association of Canada is a non-profit industry organization that develops and manages recycling programs across Canada and in the US. We are proud to manage collection and recycling programs for special waste products like household hazardous waste, paint, lighting, and smoke alarms. Reporting to the Vice President, Operations at Product Care Association you will oversee the development and management of Product Care’s Manitoba Household Hazardous Waste Program. The Program Coordinator leads the execution, development and refinement of the provincial household hazardous waste program and is responsible for meeting the program’s commitments and operational goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interacting with municipal and provincial representatives and regulators
  • Assist with Program communication and promotion initiatives
  • Interacting with service providers who provide the collection and processing functions including analysis and oversight of program logistics
  • Stakeholder relations (retailers, consumers, and others)
  • Attend various meetings and conferences
  • Attend and staff trade shows as necessary
  • Act as the initial contact person in Manitoba for the program
  • Working with other Product Care departments to fulfill commitments in the program plan
  • Recruiting, developing, and improving the collection network
  • Providing oversight, inspections and orientation/training of collection sites as needed
  • Provide technical support to collection site operators
  • Other tasks and initiatives for the enhancement of the program
  • Preparing required reports in consultation with PCA management.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant Post-secondary education.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in operational management, waste management, logistics management, or related roles.
  • Knowledge of Household hazardous labpacking techniques including segregation and proper packing of HHW material is desirable
  • Direct experience in environmental, recycling or related field is beneficial but not necessary
  • Knowledge of recycling/waste management, materials management, commodity markets, and logistics or related operational business activities is desirable.
  • Knowledge of waste management, environmental, transportation of dangerous goods and provincial hazardous waste regulations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba geography.
  • Ability to conduct detailed analysis and provide summaries and recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and people skills. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively create and implement project plans
  • Flexible work schedule which may require periods of extended working hours to meet deadlines during peak periods is required.
  • Requires travel within the province to meet with collection, transportation and processing partners and conduct site visits.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to work from home is required
