About the Position

Initially reporting to the President and CEO, the Client Advisor & Training Manager is integral to the delivery of Climate Smart’s products and services. The Client Advisor & Training team are responsible for training, advising, and certifying Climate Smart client businesses; as part of a fast growing company, the Client Advisor & Training Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and on time delivery of training and advisory support, the satisfaction of client businesses, and meeting annual subscription renewal targets. The Manager is expected to learn from the bottom up: starting as a Client Advisor & Trainer while working with the President and CEO, build out the Client Advisor & Training team and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service and product delivery.

As Client Advisor you will be responsible for providing one-on-one support to a portfolio of client businesses to help them through the process of measuring their greenhouse gas emissions, developing a list of emission reduction strategies they’re going to pursue, and completing their Climate Smart certification. Client Advisors are critical to Climate Smart’s strong client relations, and to providing exceptional service to the businesses we work with.

Main Responsibilities

Manage Client Advisor Team

  • Manage and grow team of trainers and client advisors
  • Responsible for training and advisory team meeting client satisfaction, emission reduction and renewal subscription targets
  • Ensure exceptional client centered service to the portfolio of businesses. Track and report progress on impact: emissions reductions, savings, stories
  • Manage and lead regular training and support team meetings to share best practices and resolve issues pertaining to the technical and support team
  • Continue to improve and build upon client experience, efficiency and quality of training and client advisory services; provide input into developing the program
  • Coordinate with the data and knowledge systems manager and partnerships and communication manager on impact reporting


  • Deliver Climate Smart training program, adapt standard training session agenda, content and materials to best suit different groups and host partners
  • Coordinate planning on session-related logistics
  • Represent Climate Smart in key client relationships through training program delivery.

Client Advisory Portfolio Management

  • Provide technical support to Climate Smart clients on a scheduled and ‘ad-hoc’ basis as they conduct GHG emissions inventories, develop emissions reduction plans, and achieve Climate Smart certification
  • Resolve technical issues and provide guidance on GHG inventory boundary-setting, emission reduction, and related topics
  • Conduct a detailed review of completed inventories, emission reductions potential, delivering feedback on methodology and data quality
  • Develop projections and analyze the business case, for different emission reduction strategies
  • Generate documentation for businesses upon completion of their certification as Climate Smart, including GHG inventory reports, case studies, and internal records;

Experience, Skills and Characteristics

  • Post-secondary technical training and work experience in environmental sciences and business/management education/training, or equivalent training and experience. Greenhouse gas accounting expertise required. Related post graduate degree strongly preferred
  • Experience in a program management role: one to three years
  • Experience in a training capacity: one to three years
  • Experience in client service or advisory roles: minimum three years
  • Open minded, creative problem solver, analytical, technically proficient in data analysis, excellent time management
  • Mastery of excel, proficiency in Salesforce CRM other Microsoft products
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter
  • Customer Service Oriented, enjoys presenting complex information to non-technical audiences
  • Experience designing and running training sessions to groups of 15+ people
  • Fluency in French is a strong asset

Regular travel within Canada will be required.
