Position: Foundation Grants Coordinator
Organization: Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation
Location: Downtown Toronto, Ontario

Duration: Permanent Position
Hours/Weeks: 40 hrs. (5 days/wk.)

About the Greenbelt and Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation

Ontario's Greenbelt is an area of permanently protected green space, farmland and vibrant rural communities. It surrounds the highly urbanized Greater Golden Horseshoe, and is vital to the quality of life in southern Ontario. The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation is a charitable organization, focused on supporting activities that improve knowledge and enhance the health and integrity of agricultural, natural heritage and water systems in Ontario's Greenbelt.

A primary function of the Foundation is grant-making. The Foundation provides funding to activities that promote and sustain the Greenbelt as a beneficial, valuable, and permanent feature, enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Ontario.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Grants Coordinator is a key member of the grant-making team, reporting to the Foundations’ Program Director. The Grants Coordinator will primarily support our grant-making process, including the online grant portal, project reporting and financial tracking. The Grants Coordinator will also maintain team workplans and support interactions with grantees and project outcomes.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the grants team to support the Foundation’s grant program

  • Respond to funding inquiries and provide assistance to submitting funding requests through the grant portal

  • Liaise with the Grant Advisory Committee

  • Support the maintenance of grant files and statistics

  • Support financial reporting by grantees, maintain reporting and payment schedule

  • Maintain workplans for the grants team and track progress/milestones

  • Support the organization of grantee meetings, workshops and other events to facilitate collaboration and knowledge transfer

  • Support outreach and engagement with grantees to further the Foundation’s communication and engagement goals and to provide support

  • Support Program Director, as needed

CONSIDERED AN ASSET

  • 2-3 years’ of professional experience.

  • Experience with Fluxx Grants Management Software or similar.

  • Strength/experience in communications or research.

  • Community development experience and/or an interest in agricultural or environmental issues.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of professional certificate and experience.

  • Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Internet, and MS Outlook.

  • Fast, accurate keyboard data entry (both alpha and numeric).

  • Good communication skills, both written, and oral.

  • Strong organizational skills and problem solving skills.

  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize work flow.

  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.

  • Responsible, detail oriented, and team player.

  • Keen interest and understanding of environmental, agricultural, and/or economic development issues.

  • Experience in working for a non-profit organization desirable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The position will be based at our Toronto office (downtown) in a typical office setting. Salary range is $38,000 to $41,000, commensurate with experience and includes vacation and health benefits.
