Position: Marketing Manager
Organization: Mama Earth Organics
Location: Toronto or Peterborough, Ontario

The Role

Mama Earth Organics is hiring a marketing manager! The position will be responsible for creating and maintaining our marketing operations and content.

The position is a mixture of hands on and strategic work. You’ll play a huge role within our fast growing organization and work closely with our CEO (and the rest of our executive team).

About Us

We deliver super fresh organic food to homes throughout the GTA. We’re also one of the fastest growing companies in Canada. We’ve accomplished this because we’re genuinely passionate about what we do. We’re building a true, honest, locally-based food system. Our core business is based around our relationship and partnership with our local farms (we work with 80+ local farms close to Toronto). We’ve recently expanded into prepared/seasonal meals/salad bowls and will be breaking this side of the business out over the next few years.

Our main operation is in Toronto (about 80 staff work from that location) and we have a smaller location in Peterborough (there’s usually 10-15 people working from that location).

Job Description

  • Responsibility for overall customer experience (at all touch points)
  • Manage and guide the weekly seasonal content and user experience
  • Track, report and improve key metrics
  • Developing the marketing strategy for the company in line with company objectives
  • Co-ordinating marketing campaigns and events
  • Responsible for overall “voice”
  • Implement and report on social median engagements and ad campaigns
  • Overseeing the company’s marketing budget.
  • Creation and publication of all marketing/branding material
  • Manage and lead rebranding campaign
  • Planning and implementing promotional campaigns.
  • Manage and improve cost per acquisition through all channels
  • Preparing online and print marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing communications
  • Attending weekly, monthly, quarterly leadership meetings
  • Helping to put together marketing updates for the board

Characteristics You Have

  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple ongoing tasks with changing priorities,
  • Empathy for people (and our customers), strong understanding and interest in people and their emotions.
  • Understanding of trends and movements (naturally ahead of both and able to distinguish between the two)
  • Self-motivated, takes full responsibility on tasks
  • Deep understanding, interest and love of food
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with passionate, opinionated people
  • Excellent planning, time-management and decision making skills
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to turn empirical data into insightful, strategic decisions
  • Love of design
  • Deep understanding and empathy of our customer base
  • Quality obsessed with extreme attention to detail

‘Nice to Have’ things (not required - but any/all of these would be an asset):

  • Graphic design background
  • Experience crafting, executing and optimizing campaigns for Adwords, Facebook
  • Experience using tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social
  • Copywriting/editing experience
  • Photography interest/passion
  • Background in food (either food blogging or cooking background)
  • Farming background
  • Rural/country living background

A Bit More About the Position

The first two months will consist of onboard/training on our brand, plans and overall operations. We’ll also use this time to put together the 6 and 12 month strategic plan (working directly with the CEO/founder).
