Position: Warehouse Manager
Employer: Pfenning's Organic Vegetables
Location: New Hamburg, Ontario (near Kitchener-Waterloo & Stratford)

Pfenning’s Organic Vegetables Inc., a leader in organic farming and distribution for almost 40 years, are looking to hire a Warehouse Manager.

Management

  • Leadership duties involving coaching and developing skills within the 10-15 member team
  • Actively manage and troubleshoot team member relations and the communication process within the team and to other members of the company
  • Coordinate specific duties for team members and delegate duties when necessary
  • Ensure team members are performing to standard and provide input for employee monthly check-in's
  • Scheduling duties including approving vacation and time off for team members
  • Ensure Pfenning’s employment standards are being met by all team members; including attendance, food safety, and health and safety compliance
  • Work closely with Human Resources to manage the Warehouse Incentive Program
  • Actively investigate legitimate returns and coach the team member(s) on how to improve

Warehouse Maintenance Duties:

  • Maintain a clean warehouse and efficient working environment
  • Assist team members with organizing their coolers so that product is stacked away properly
  • Ensure product is being rotated to FIFO standards and that product is labeled accordingly
  • Pick orders as required and make sure that shorted items are reported to the office
  • Report any low inventory levels and product quality concerns to Purchasing/Receiving

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of a high school diploma
  • Management or supervisory experience in a similar role
  • General understanding of produce quality standards

Assets:

  • Previous experience working in a warehouse, shipping and receiving department
  • General understanding of food storage procedures
  • General knowledge of organic product
  • Possession of a forklift license

  • Ability to work effectively under strict time constraints

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand and move around for prolonged periods of time
  • Majority of work completed in a cold temperature environment
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a consistent basis
  • Continuous learning environment including training opportunities
  • General labour work attire but clothing must be clean and intact, green patch footwear required
  • Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, and every other Sunday morning, with seasonal overtime
