Position: Sustainable Transportation Coordinator

The Ecology Action Centre (EAC) is an environmental charity based in Nova Scotia. We take leadership on critical environmental issues from biodiversity protection to climate change to environmental justice. We are grounded in community and are a strong voice and watchdog for our environment. We work to catalyze change through policy advocacy, community development, and building awareness. We take a holistic approach to the environment and our economy to create a just and sustainable society.
The Ecology Action Centre’s transportation team works to increase the use of transportation modes, like walking, cycling, and transit use, in Nova Scotia that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote healthy communities, and ensure equitable access for all.
We are seeking a full time Sustainable Transportation Coordinator. This person will be responsible for working on municipal and provincial policy and planning issues and collaborating with partners in government, community organizations, and institutions to advance sustainable transportation in Nova Scotia. The person in this role will also hold the team’s long-term vision for sustainable transportation in Nova Scotia and work to provide support and guidance to our policy and program work in order to help the team achieve that vision. The objective is to grow the team's work to include more sustainable transportation initiatives through fundraising and strategic partnerships. The Sustainable Transportation Coordinator will report to EAC Directors.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time (37.5 hours per week) for an indefinite term; 4 weeks of paid vacation and a cost-shared benefits plan. Compensation commensurate with experience in the range of $22.50-24.50/hr.
Interviews will take place between August 27-31st, 2018 and the successful candidate will ideally start soon after.
Hours: Monday to Friday – flexible hours. Some evening and weekend work will be required as will some travel within NS.
Location: This position will be based at EAC’s office, 2705 Fern Lane, Halifax.
