Position: Property Management Assistant
Employer: Compass Property Group / Circabuilt

Our projects have featured geothermal heating and cooling systems, green roofs, and grey water recovery systems.  We have partnered with CMHC and the Sustainable Housing Foundation, and built the project that established best practices for existing multi-unit residential buildings.  We are constantly striving to produce the best homes we can, always asking ourselves how we can make our buildings better.

Compass Property Group owns and operates a portfolio of small residential and mixed-use buildings in Toronto. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our small but mighty team. The Property Assistant Intern will play a key supporting role for a range of projects, including those that are fully operational and some in development. The role is well-suited to someone who is looking to gain knowledge and experience across property management, construction and real estate development.


The ideal candidate will enjoy being involved in a wide variety of tasks, none of which are routine. Expect a different day, every day and to be pulled into a variety of tasks that help solve problems and support the improvement of good buildings.

Potential responsibilities include:

  • Investigating and troubleshooting problems at properties

  • Filling in property maintenance gaps

  • Supporting communication to tenants

  • Supporting early stages of property development

  • Continuing our ongoing key management project

  • Meeting trades people on site

  • Ordering, pickup, and distribution of project materials

  • Researching suppliers and sourcing materials

Skills & Experience

The right individual will be an organized problem solver who is tech savvy and able to communicate clearly and effectively with the team using a variety of systems. The following skills and attributes are required:

  • Email, text, cell phone, carrier pigeon (if required)

  • Experience using Google Drive and Google Docs

  • Experience organizing data using spreadsheets (Google Sheets)

  • Drivers’ License

  • Ability to lift heavy items

  • Not afraid to get dirty when needed

  • Interested in building projects and making buildings better

  • Interested in getting things done

The following skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience using tools and being handy

  • Experience using drafting software (AutoCAD) to create basic drawings

  • General knowledge of construction processes

  • General knowledge of property management processes

Compensation is $15/hr for a 40hr week, with $75/month for cell phone
