Position: Venue Supervisor

From intimate gatherings to weddings and conferences, Evergreen environmental community centre and heritage site located in the heart of Toronto’s Don Valley hosts 250+ events a year.

The Venue Supervisor will provide support to the Venue Operations Manager, as well as the Events team with internal and external event clients during the execution of their event. The Venue Supervisor will communicate with event clients and suppliers as an Evergreen Ambassador to facilitate their needs during the event.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service
    • Ensure client and guest satisfaction through-out the event
    • Assist clients and guests with special requests
    • Represent Evergreen in a professional and courteous manner
  2. Venue and Operations
    • Supervise load in and out of equipment, rentals, etc.
    • Supervise meeting rooms on an as needed basis
    • Liaise with Event Manager and Venue Operations Manager to ensure event set up and itineraries are followed and on track
    • Supervise beverage staff and reconcile opening and closing counts when required
    • Liaise with off-site emergency contacts as necessary (flood, site manager, etc.)
    • Enforce compliance with all requirements of the provincial liquor legislation at all time during the event
    • Ensure that the venue is run in a safe, orderly and disciplined manner in accordance with Evergreen’s policies and Health & Safety requirements
  3. Team Accountability
    • Support the Hospitality Team with event execution

Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of Evergreen. Assess difficult situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
  • Flexibility/adaptability. Flexible, versatile and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Cope effectively with complexity and change.


Reporting relationships

  • Supervised by: Venue Operations Manager
  • Supervise: Events porters and sub-contract event staff


  • Smart Serve certification is required
  • Hospitality or venue management experience an asset
  • First-aid/CPR certification required

Working Conditions

  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment

Physical requirements

  • Some lifting
  • Long periods of standing
