Who We Are:
The Endeavour Centre occupies a unique position in the green building world. We provide experiential education at the intersection of high-performance and natural building.
Our building projects (such as Canada’s Greenest Home and Zero House) bring together faculty and students to create buildings that meet the highest performance standards and the highest ecological standards.
Our innovations help to set the bar for green building. We’ve been at the forefront of developing prefabricated straw bale wall panels, hempcrete insulation, expanded glass bead foundations, clay plasters, earthen floors, composting toilets, rainwater harvesting and much more.
Our graduates go on to do great work, here in Ontario, across Canada and around the world.
The Endeavour Centre is planning to expand our consultation and design services to make our design expertise available to more clients. To help make this possible, we are looking to hire someone with excellent design, drafting and rendering skills to join our team.
This position entails joining our design team for meetings with clients and helping to set project goals through our in-house green building framework. The successful candidate will then generate renderings for presentation drawings and work on all aspects of the plan set, from preliminary sketches through to final permit drawings.
Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about ecological design, and has a BCIN in Small Buildings. The ability to create attractive presentation drawings is definitely a key asset, and a fine attention to detail is a must. Knowledge of Passive House or other energy modeling software would be a benefit.
We currently do most of our design work in SketchUp. We also use Google Drive as our main communication platform. An understanding of these programs would be very helpful. We are open to using any design software platform that the successful candidate is familiar with.
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and able to work independently. Experience working with clients would be an asset.
We will be asking to review a portfolio sent to us electronically before calling for interviews
The position will begin with one or two projects completed on a trial basis, with a full time position with Endeavour to follow.
Compensation: To be determined based on skill level & experience. Benefits can be offered after 3 months.
Start date: Mid-December, 2017.
