Position: Community Projects and Events Coordinator
Type: 24 hour/week, May 8 to October 15 / possibility of extension
Organization: Hendrick Farm Foundation
Location: Hendrick Farm, Chelsea QC / just north of Ottawa/Gatineau

Hendrick Farm Background

Hendrick Farm is a conservation development that integrates organic agriculture, a diverse housing neighborhood, parks, and trails located in an environment designed to keep these activities at the heart of a village setting. Hendrick Farm has planned a network of public spaces ranging from riverside rest-areas, to a renovated heritage barn, lush parks, and an organic farm. We intend to use these spaces to host a variety of community events throughout the summer.

Your Role

You will work with the Hendrick Farm Operations Manager to organize and facilitate the Hendrick Farm events calendar for the 2018 season. In this role, you will be given an opportunity to strengthen our events program and contribute to the social vibrancy of the community. You will engage with community members, visitors, and local organizations to ensure the success of new and existing event programming held onsite. The person in this role will also be responsible for developing and implementing activities related to neighborhood life, the organic farm, the flower gardens, and food/lifestyle-related workshops.


This position is responsible for:

  • Coordinating all Hendrick Farm community events

  • Communicating and liaising with community organizations

  • Facilitating events organized by the Hendrick Farm Homeowners’ Association

  • Working alongside the marketing team to organize special events

  • Developing a diverse workshop program

  • Facilitating volunteer and visitor days on the farm

  • Ensuring an organized, fun, engaging, and welcoming environment at all events


This position is seeking someone with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience or strong-interest in event planning

  • Organized and able to effectively coordinate activities for up to 50 people

  • Excellent bilingual communication skills, written and spoken (French and English)

  • People-oriented and enjoys working with community organizations

  • Knowledge or creative skills relevant to developing workshops

  • Good sense of budget and timeline management

  • Resourceful and positive with a welcoming personality


The ideal candidate is self-motivated and applies a professional approach in all aspects of employment. The ability to work a non-routine schedule and prepare for changing daily tasks is necessary. Terms of Employment

The position requires 24 hours per week. Flexibility is a must. Some nighttime and/or weekend hours will be necessary. This is a contract for employment from May 8 to October 15, however there is a definite possibility for extension to be considered at the end of the term should we find the right candidate.
