Position Title: Program Manager
Organization: The Centre for Indigenous Conservation and Development Alternatives (CICADA)
Location: Montréal, Quebec
Reporting to: Director of CICADA
Hours: 33.75 hrs./week
Salary Range: $50,300 - $62,900
Duration: 1 year, with potential for annual renewal up to 5 additional years, conditional on strong performance
Start Date: start date flexible, between April 1 and June 1, 2018
The Centre for Indigenous Conservation and Development Alternatives (CICADA) http://www.cicada.world is a multidisciplinary research centre that supports indigenous peoples’ collective life projects to generate innovative regimes of environmental protection and alternative visions of development. The Program Manager will oversee the centre’s activities and communications strategy. The centre brings together the projects and programs of more than seventy regular members and collaborators undertaking partnered research with indigenous peoples globally, including the Americas, Africa, Australia and Asia.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
A graduate degree in anthropology, international development, indigenous studies, environmental studies or related area is preferred, with at least three years’ related experience. Candidates with an undergraduate degree in one of these areas and exceptional depth of experience and accomplishment may also be considered.
Other Qualifications and Skills:
Experience working with indigenous communities and organizations. Experience with campaign organization, chairing meetings, giving public presentations and facilitating group discussions and collaborations. Strong understanding of the complexities and issues related to conservation and alternative development initiatives. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Strong attention to detail and being able to handle multiple deadlines and deliver result in a timely fashion. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point). High proficiency in written and spoken French, English and Spanish essential.
