EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position: IT Support Specialist
Organization: Community Energy Association
Location: flexible in BC, AB, or YK

Overview

This is your chance to apply your technical abilities to making a difference in this decade of climate action. CEA needs an experienced IT professional to provide rock solid laptop and Office365 management and support to over 30 staff.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for everything to do with laptops and Offic365 from policy and procurement through configuration, helpdesk / support, troubleshooting, security, and generally maintaining rock solid technology for our professional staff to use to help communities combat climate change. Ideally, you will also support a migration of professional services automation cloud services this year while maintaining CEA’s WordPress websites. You may also be involved in CEA project delivery to advance climate action with local governments and indigenous communities in BC and beyond. CEA operates in a highly distributed, cloud-based environment and for this reason is looking for someone who is organized, resourceful and self-motivated.

  • Compensation: $45,000-65,000 per year based on experience and capability
  • Employment type: Full-time (35 hours/week) ideally, possibility of part-time (80%)
  • Benefits: 5 weeks vacation, medical/dental, flexible hours
  • Location: Flexible in BC, AB, or YK with home office

Experience and Capabilities

Below are the required and preferred experience and capabilities we are looking for.

Required:

  • Technical
    • Laptop management from specification, procurement and configuration through ongoing patches, security, and hardware/software trouble-shooting in a remote / distributed environment
    • Office365 ongoing support, security, backups, user configuration and evolution
  • Functional
    • Knowledge of, and commitment to, climate action at the local level
    • Understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
    • Develop positive relationships with staff you are supporting
    • Responsive, clear and able to effectively manage multiple concurrent demands
    • Proven ability to research and evaluate options and present succinct analysis and recommendations to decision-makers
    • Possess strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment

Preferred

  • Website Support
    • Wordpress site technical support in development and ongoing operation
    • Basic website analytics, SEO
  • Application support
    • Experience in deployment and integration of multiple cloud based applications such as CRM, time and expense, project coordination and accounting
    • Knowledge of Adobe Suite, video processing and video library management
  • Functional
    • Experience in a non-profit or professional services organization
    • Assist other staff in special events and activities as required
    • Plan and implement staff training as required
