Position: Organic market garden & farm interns
Type: full-time internship with accom., stipend, more (see below)

We are a 100 acre mixed operation farm, located 30 min W of Peterborough and 1 1/2 hrs E of Toronto. We are looking to fill 2 internship postions from the beginning of April to the end of October (flexible on start and end dates). Our farm consists of a 1 1/2 acre market garden where we grow organically grown produce and cut flowers. We also have livestock consisting of beef cattle, chickens and pigs. We also produce maple syrup every spring from a sugar bush that we rent not far from the farm. We sell our products at 2 farmers markets and run a 15 week CSA in the summer. We are looking to expand to supplying local restaurants in the 2018 season. We are looking for individuals who are hardworking, work well as a team and individually. Farming is very physical work with long hours and working in all types of weather, applicants must be willing and prepared to work in these conditions. Some heavy lifting is also involved.

A farm internship can give you a great deal of experience and expand your knowledge in all aspects of the farm. Being a diversified farm we can offer experience in the following areas:

  • Greenhouse/Poly Tunnel growing - seed starting, season extension, irrigation, soil prep, planting
  • Market Garden - soil prep, planting, weeding, plant care, irrigation
  • Produce harvesting, washing and packing
  • Preparing CSA shares
  • Preparing and helping with farmers market
  • Livestock management and care - daily chores, managing pasture raised animals
  • Maple syrup bottling and preparing value added products ie maple butter and maple sugar
  • We will also share our knowledge of market garden planning, seed ordering, marketing, record keeping and other information we have learned over the years.

This is a full time position, Mon - Fri, average of 8 - 10 hour days, with breaks and some Saturdays to help with the one farmers market.

Accomodation is available, food produced on the farm will be provided. Along with housing, interns will be paid a $400 monthly stipend.

This is a great position if you are looking for a challenging but fulfilling job, that will provide you with knowledge and experience in farming. We offer a fun, but structured atmosphere where you will be working along side of us in all aspects of the farm.

We are part of the C.R.A.F.T. program (visit for more info). With this program our interns are able to participate in once monthly visits to another farm for an educational day/farm tour.
