Full and Part Time Gardeners, Horticultural Crew Member at WHO DOES YOUR GARDEN

Work Scope

Who Does Your Garden has been providing garden design, fine gardening services and unique seasonal container plantings to homes in Toronto neighbourhoods since 2005. WDYG focuses on the expanding the potential of the urban garden by integrating ecological principals with horticultural practices. We strive to create diverse, resilient, and stunning plant communities.

The ideal candidate would understand a garden is not static; it never stops evolving and will always be a work in progress. Our role as the gardener is to watch, interpret, understand and at critical moments, give a push to direct the landscape to align with the client’s vision.

Crewmembers work with experienced horticulturists and budding ecologists in various urban settings to provide timely, quality and sustainable upkeep of gardens. Clients rely on our expertise in areas of design and installation services, sustainable maintenance practices, rehabilitative pruning methods, bulb and vegetable planting, and soil advisement.

Daily Activities: Working weekdays 8:30 to 5:00 from April to November 2019 we:

  • Plant and cultivate annuals, perennials, bulbs, shrubs and trees
  • Assess, monitor, improve and maintain planting beds and gardens
  • Amend soil, assist in pruning activities
  • Assist with design, assembly and maintenance of container plantings
  • Upkeep of WDYG yard – includes tools, truck, plant inventory, various martials


  • Basic knowledge of ecological principals and their application to horticulture gained through formal education +/or professional experience
  • Good plant ID skills and motivation to expand this skill
  • Work smart attitude
  • Capable of performing physical labour (bending, lifting, digging)
  • Prepared to tolerate various weather conditions
  • Knowledge of navigating city neighbourhoods
  • We develop and follow standard processes around repetitive tasks and hire team members who appreciate and are committed to ensuring consistent quality

Salary $16 to $20 hour
