HORTICULTURE JOBS

Position:  Plant Nursery/Gardener
Type: full-time, seasonal (April through Oct./Nov.) Weds-Sunday
Company: Lost Horizons Nursery (pesticide-free)
Location: Acton (near Guelph, Milton, Brampton), Ontario

Keep Calm and…Garden!!

Opportunity: Learn and grow with us at Lost Horizons – an alternative family-run nursery set among extensive display gardens in beautiful Halton Hills. Not your typical retail nursery, we grow over 3000 varieties of perennials, shrubs and trees, without using pesticides and fungicides. This variety includes many rare and new plants collected from around the world. We are also trialling many plants received from other rare plant nurseries and plants we have collected from Tibet to Colorado. We are a sustainable operation, using organic composts and biological pest and fungal control, and recycled pots.

What’s involved? You’ll gain skills and experience in all areas of propagation (division, seed cuttings, root cuttings), maintenance and planting of display garden, serving customers, promoting on social media, tracking orders, and supporting nursery setup and displays. Applicants must display a keen interest in plants and ability to learn.

Details: We’re open Wednesday-Sunday and offer some flexibility on hours.  Hourly pay-rate is competitive and dependent on experience. Opportunity for end-of-season incentive bonus! While it is expected that you will have your own transportation, possible ride-sharing or pick-up at Acton GO station can be discussed.

Please send me a resume and let me know why you’re interested!
